weird bit on my mantises eye

okay little update, his eye has got worse and now you cant see his pseudopupil at all, but he is still hunting and running around and acting like normal. someone said that its probably eye damage and i agree, im keeping a close eye on him for any behavioural changes

    Caring for an Old Mantis

there isnt really much else you can do unfortunately, you may be able to move her to an enclosure with a slightly lower roof if you are able to so if she falls she is less likely to hurt herself, its sad watching them get old

    Fruit Flies

i recommend moths, some of my guys eat waxworms too because their easy to catch but overall their more nutritious and appealing when they have turned into moths. hoppers are also a great feeder, but i dont think their available in the usa. people have recommended dubia roaches too, but they are...

    Feeding when gone

mantids can go ages without food and be completely fine (although i dont recommend doing it intentionally), its the hydration i would be more concerned about

    Waxworms

their fine to feed mantids, but maybe once a week. its good to let them turn into moths as well because their much more nutritional that way, and most mantids love flying prey

    scared i overfed

she should be fine, mine can eat their own weight in food and get massive and be completely fine, just dont feed her again until she looks flat

Keeping mantids with stick insects? (Eurycantha calcarata, specifically)

i like the idea but i wouldnt risk it, as someone who keeps mantids and giant spiny stick insects it would be very risky. the stick insects are very large and clumsy and could easily trample the mantis by accident, or (depending on the mantis) mistake it as food, not to mention i have seen...
